GCAI has signed a MOU with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC).

GCAI is proud to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC).
The MoU primarily discusses the following:
(i) Jointly organise conferences, seminars, courses, workshops or other in-person events on international arbitration in India and Singapore.
(ii) Develop and conduct training programmes or workshops for GCAI’s members to enhance in-house counsels' knowledge of international arbitration law and practice as arbitration practitioners and as arbitrators.
(iii) Provide marketing support for, and participate as a supporting organisation in, SIAC’s events in India and Singapore and GCAI’s international arbitration-related events in India and Singapore.
GCAI signs MoU with International Arbitration and Mediation Centre, Hyderabad (IAMC)
2 August 2024
GCAI is pleased to announce the signature of an MoU with The International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC), Hyderabad, on August 02 2024, at New Delhi. The MOU was signed by CV Raghu and Shukla Wassan, founding members of GCAI, and Tariq Khan, registrar of IAMC. This MoU will promote, develop and explore areas of cooperation in the fields of arbitration and mediation.
The discussion focused on the key role of general counsels in promoting mediation and arbitration as important modes for the resolution of corporate disputes, and the MoU is a step in the right direction to promote arbitration and mediation in India.
National Law University- Jodhpur (NLUJ) and signs an MoU with GCAI

National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur, and the General Counsels’ Association of India (GCAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce innovative, industry-aligned courses for law students and legal professionals. This collaboration aims to enhance legal education by integrating real-world insights into academic learning, thereby improving students' preparedness for the evolving demands of the legal profession.
The MoU was signed by Professor Harpreet Kaur, Vice-Chancellor of NLU Jodhpur, and Dr. Sanjeev Gemawat, Group General Counsel of Vedanta and founding member of GCAI. Professor Kaur emphasised the importance of hands-on learning and industry exposure in shaping competent legal minds, especially in the age of digital transformation. Dr Gemawat highlighted the diverse roles played by general counsels in the legal landscape and advocated for their recognition at par with practising advocates. Justice H.R. Panwar, former Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, supported this view, underlining that general counsels are officers of the court and should be granted similar legal standing.
The signing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries from the legal fraternity, including legal professionals, advocates, and retired faculty from Jodhpur. Dr Akhil Prasad, another key figure from GCAI and Boeing India’s legal head, spoke about GCAI’s ongoing efforts to partner with institutions across the country to strengthen legal education and professional development. The event was coordinated by faculty members Dr Manoj Kumar Singh and Dr Neeti Mathur, who emphasised the significance of such collaborations in enhancing the university's engagement with the broader legal ecosystem.
GCAI becomes a partner with SCOPE

GCAI is proud to announce the successful conclusion of an interactive programme with the School of Business & Economics, Maastricht University, the Netherlands (SCOPE), held on 1 July 2024 at Oberoi Maidens, New Delhi.
The one-day programme, titled “India’s Success Story on a Global Landscape”, was attended by 27 international students from SCOPE and featured an impressive line-up of speakers. The event further reinforced GCAI’s ongoing commitment to promoting higher learning, mentorship, and global collaboration for students and emerging professionals.
NALSAR University, Hyderabad signs an MoU with GCAI

GCAI is pleased to share glimpses of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Academy of Legal Studies & Research (NALSAR) University Hyderabad.
The Vice Chancellor, Registrar and GCAI members talked about the goals and benefits of this collaboration, and how it will help disseminate practical knowledge to the students, letting them understand real-world applications of legal knowledge and bridging the gap between theory and practice.
GCAI signs an MoU with TERI SAS (School of Advanced Studies)

GCAI is proud to announce the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TERI School of Advanced Studies. TERI is recognised globally for its contribution to scientific and policy research in energy, environment, and sustainable development. TERI offers world-class education in an environment that enables its students to develop fresh perspectives, including regular interactions with researchers, scientists and academics.
Both TERI and GCAI aim to collaborate through knowledge sharing, courses and seminars in the fields of ESG, sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, climate science and policy, along with urban infrastructure and public policy.
The Indian School of Public Policy (ISPP), signs an MoU with GCAI

The initiative will enable collaboration between the academic and practical aspects of public policy, and will help create a better appreciation of industry challenges and the larger public interest for positive outcomes.
Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai (MNLUM), signs an MoU with GCAI

GCAI is excited to announce the signature of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai (MNLUM), where they will collaborate to tie academic and professional excellence together for the next generation of legal minds.
Members of both organisations were enthusiastic, stating that the MoU is a step in the right direction, and that it will bring about better research, training, and practical experience to students. At the ceremony, MNLUM and GCAI also exhibited interest in making a centre dedicated to arbitration and mediation for the benefit of the industry.

The discussion focused on the university offering a two-credit programme on startups, data privacy issues, and more. GCAI was enthusiastic about working with NLU Delhi, hoping the collaboration will generate interest so that more inter-disciplinary programmes can emerge.
